New Products at Hold Fast Bespoke
I’ve been working diligently to increase the options here at Hold Fast Bespoke. Finding new suppliers can be challenging for a small startup in today’s marketplace. Today I’m pleased to announce some exiting new options that I can offer you. So let's start with some beautiful fabrics.
Donegal Tweed - The Real Thing
I’m now able to offer you classic Donegal tweed from Magee. Woven in Donegal, Ireland since 1866, this is the genuine article. Pure wool with characteristic multi colored neps that echo the colors of the Irish countryside. Truly timeless style. Available in both solids and herringbone, in a variety of weights. It’s an outstanding value.
The Magee stock service offers a wide range of colors. These fabrics would be perfect for an Autumn or Winter wedding. I love the idea of a wedding suit having a “second life” as a classic sport coat and a pair of casual tweed trousers. Rather than spending years in the closet, your wedding suit can become a part of a working wardrobe. If this is your vision, now is the time to start planning it. So do get in touch.
Rugged British Tweeds
for the Country Gentleman Look
Woven in West Yorkshire using 100% British wool, these tweeds from Farnhill & Hirst are made to withstand the elements. A Teflon finish makes them water resistant, and the color combinations are striking. If your fantasy is to roam the moors, or hike in the Lake District, these beefy tweeds will take you there, if only in your dreams.
The jacketing weight at 450 gsm would make a rugged sport coat or light weight outerwear for strolling your country estate, or simply running errands. The 630 gsm coat weight would make a winter overcoat like no other. Supplies are variable, so if this is your vibe get in touch soon.
Linen / Pineapple Blend Jacketing
Real Sustainability
This unique fabric is imported from the UK. It’s a blend of linen and the waste leaves from the pineapple harvest. It has an amazingly soft hand, and would be perfect for a lightweight casual jacket. A safari style jacket comes immediately to mind.
This chambray fabric comes in a range of soft colors. It really has to be felt to be truly appreciated. Unlike some crisper linens which can crease harshly, this fabric gives off a softer rumpled vibe. I saw this worked up as a half lined jacket by Cordings of Piccadilly. I couldn’t imagine anyone not wanting it immediately. If you’re looking for something truly sustainable for Summer, now’s the time to get in touch. Who doesn’t love linen. “Embrace the crease” as they say.
Linings - Rayon Cupro Linings from Italy
I’ve finally found a stock service for high quality linings. These rayon / acetate, and Cupro linings are manufactured in Italy. Designs range from classic conservative, to off-beat and playful. There’s even a range of Cupro / silk solids. Choosing a lining is highly personal, and a great way to express your personality. I’m sure you’ll find something in this collection that will finish your bespoke suit or jacket perfectly.
Buttons - Little Details that
Make a Statement
Buttons, and more buttons. They may be small, but really great buttons can make a garment. Being able to pick ones that really “speak” to you is all part of the bespoke process. I’m glad to offer you a wide selection of colors and materials to choose from. There’s even a sustainable horn alternative from Italy made with powdered horn and resin.
Earthorn is made in Italy using bone powder and resin. It has the characteristic of real horn in that each button has its own unique patterning. This is a great option for those who love the lighter horn color, but not the premium price tag of light colored genuine horn buttons. Earthorn comes is a variety of profiles, and in both polished and matte finishes.
It’s impossible to beat the beauty of real horn buttons. Each one is completely unique. The subtle variations really add a sense of depth to a jacket or waistcoat. It’s a small detail that you’ll enjoy for the life of your garment. They’re the perfect accompaniment to the natural fibers I work with here at Hold Fast Bespoke.
Also from Italy… I now have access to mother of pearl buttons in a variety of colors. Flashier than horn, they tend to work on more formal pieces. They come in both a polished and matte finish. I’m sure the blue ones will be very popular.
