Hold Fast Bespoke featured in The Robb Report
Building an unlikely brand
from the ground up
Unlikeliest, for sure. Luckiest, definitely. Since returning from the UK I’ve worked methodically to put together Hold Fast Bespoke LLC. It hasn’t happened over night, but piece by piece the blocks have fallen into place. I think it’s fair to say that I owe my success to my winter white coat. The coat that’s opened many doors.
The Dream Collaboration
Yes, it pays to dress! My business advisor suggested that I get out and do some market research, to survey the Maine menswear scene. So I put on this coat and strolled into David Wood Clothiers in Portland. I guess you can say the rest is history. Sometimes you’re lucky enough to meet someone who “gets it”; someone who understands what you’re about, and what you do. That was the case with the owner, Sara Hutchinson Brown. She immediately realized that I had something out of the ordinary to offer her customers. Thank you winter white.
We met for coffee and our collaboration was born. I showed a tweed overcoat at their “Makers Event” in June. Erik Twardzik, a Boston based writer for The Robb Report was hoping to attend, but unfortunately had another commitment. We eventually connected over the phone and talked for at least an hour. It’s no secret that I can talk about tailoring and clothes endlessly!
Yes, my sewing machine really came from the Boothbay Harbor town dump!
Just one part of my most unlikely story. Here’s a link to the article …
