The Hold Fast Raglan Overcoat - Thoughts on completion
The Hold Fast raglan sleeved overcoat is complete. Drafted to standard measurements for a men’s size 40 short, the finished coat is comfortable to wear, with just the right amount of “Slouch”.
The Hold Fast Raglan Overcoat - Specialized materials that make a difference
Work continues on the Hold Fast Bespoke raglan sleeved overcoat. The fitting toile required no alterations, so construction proceeds with the fashion fabric; in this case a fairly lightweight cross dyed linen. There’s much more than meets the eye in a bespoke garment, so in this post I’ll explore some of the materials and techniques that are hidden from view, but contribute to a garment’s longevity.
The Raglan Overcoat - making the toile
Working from a set of standardized measurements, the pattern pieces have been developed for the raglan sleeved overcoat. The next step is to make up a toile, a prototype made with inexpensive muslin fabric. Through this process any discrepancies in the pattern will be revealed and corrected. It also provides the opportunity to evaluate proportions and design details.
In Development - Three season outerwear available two ways.
Currently in development, three season outerwear to be offered two ways. The design will be an easy fitting raglan sleeve overcoat. Details will include a concealed button front, patch pockets, button tabs at the sleeves, center back vent and perhaps a quirky ticket pocket. It will be available either made to industry standard measurements, or can be full bespoke.
